I love Sundays :)

Today is a great day mostly because it is Sunday and I love it! Even though there is a ridiculous amount of work to be done, being as I am a grad student, I still love the peace that I get on Sundays. I also really enjoy my new church. Pastor Jason has a grace about him that is daring and truthful and can share his real messages to those of us who have sinned. I really enjoyed the message of Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8 that says:

1-There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under heaven:
2-a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3-a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
4-a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5-a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
6-a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to give up,
7-a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8-a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.

This reading really spoke to me. Does it not describe life itself and all the struggles and joys we encounter? It is truly amazing and speaks to the timing of life's events. There is a time for everything whether we like it or not, but God does things for a reason and we have to respect Him and know that he has better plans for us.

To Bambi (may you rest in peace): I know that God has made up his mind to take you in His arms and that you will be watching down on us. It is your time to shine in his light and may we always remember the joy that you brought to our amazing friend. We all love you and will miss you! Don't worry, we will take care of her :)

Never judge a book by its cover

So I have been found to be guilty of judging a book by its cover a time or two...and today I had one of those moments of realization...guys are really teddy bears on the inside and rough dirt roads on the outside. Yes I made up that terrible metaphor (working on that) but isn't it so true! I had a talk with an old friend today who always gave off a tough man demeanor but today I found out he is one of the nicest, most considerate, and fun loving persons I have met. So why is it that men always have to give off the 'tough guy' image? Cultural Socialization...yes I know..but I think that women need to give these guys chances, because really there is such a beautiful person underneath the gravel.
